The Park
The Parco Naturale Regionale della Lessinia (Lessinia Regional Nature Park) was established by the Veneto Region in 1990. It spans more than ten thousand hectares of pastures, centuries-old beech woods, karst sites and caves, in an area sitting between the Piccole Dolomiti, Verona and Monte Baldo with Lake Garda.
It's a plateau that's good for walking in every season: cool in summer, colourful woods in autumn, snow on the high pastures in winter.

If you're staying a few days, these are the places worth putting on your itinerary. They're grouped by type, so you can choose based on the kind of day you feel like having.
Around the trattoria
Things you come across walking around here, that almost nobody expects to find.
Next to the trattoria stand two centuries-old chestnut trees. The largest measures twelve metres in circumference and is around seven hundred years old: it was already a mature tree when Dante was alive.
It's exactly the one local tradition calls the Castagno di Dante (Dante's Chestnut Tree), the tree under which the poet is said to have written while looking at this landscape.
In 2025 the Madonnina shrine was inaugurated, set into a natural hollow of one of these centuries-old chestnut trees. It was Bruno who first noticed that space in the trunk, as if the chestnut tree had been keeping it on purpose: a gap that seemed made to hold her, almost a sign.
The E5, the long-distance hiking trail that crosses Europe from Brittany to Italy, passing through Switzerland, Germany and Austria, runs right through here. On paper it's more than three thousand kilometres.
The most-walked stretch is the one from Lake Constance to Verona: six hundred kilometres, about thirty days on foot. The red-and-white trail markers pass right in front of the trattoria.
A treetop adventure park with about ten harnessed obstacle courses, suitable for all ages: from green trails for children aged 4 and up to a black course for the most experienced. There's also a pedal go-kart track, a play area for the youngest kids, and a treasure hunt in the woods.
In 1952 the Capuchin Friars of Barana donated a wooden crucifix, carved in Trentino-Alto Adige. Someone stole it. In its place another was carved directly into the rock face, where nobody can carry it off again.
Along the trails, carved into tree trunks, are wooden sculptures depicting sprites and creatures of the woods. Children hunt for them one by one.
A double-basin fountain in local stone, installed in 1994 at Bruno's request. It's decorated with two sculptures: a horse's head and the owner's face. Above it are engraved verses by Carmela Benedetti of Vaggimal, a poet of these valleys.
A small basin with running water was later added at the bottom, so four-legged friends can drink too.
